Triple Trailer Talk Tuesday! Featuring: Doctor Strange, Suicide Squad, and Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them!

Hello all!
Apologies for a lack of a post yesterday, but there's a TON of stuff going on this week in the film world, so I will make it up! My usual trailer discussions are on Thursdays, but there are three frickin' cool trailers that came out this weekend and I couldn't wait until Thursday to talk about them.

Doctor Strange
Last week, on the same day, the announcement that a Rogue One trailer, and a Doctor Strange trailer were releasing soon, was put out. As a Star Wars fan and Marvel fan, I was honestly more excited for this one. When the Marvel Phase 3 was announced, this was my most anticipated film on the list. Yup, more than Civil War. I am a huge fan of Benedict Cumberbatch, and his addition to the Marvel world is sure to be a great one. Now this trailer is a bit underwhelming, but it doesn't lower my excitement for this film one bit. The good parts of this trailer: the setting looks beautiful. The exotic landscape just adds to the magical feel of the Doctor Strange mythos. Also, the CGI from just a few shots looks like the best CGI we have had in a Marvel film, with the only close one being Ant-Man's tiny sequences. Finally, it looks we have a Marvel film that looks to shy away from the "Marvel formula" that we have gotten used to. It seems like a different structure, and that's pretty awesome. The bad is well, it had every trailer cliché in the book. Epic one liner at the end, learning about the main character at the start, epic music, something similar to Inception, big "BAAAWM" sound effects, and small shots of the supporting cast. The list goes on. In the end, this is just a teaser. The full trailer has yet to release, and this one was still pretty cool.

Suicide Squad
Absolutely freakin' amazing. That's all I have to say about this trailer. Suicide Squad looks like so much fun, and I was already sold on it, but they sold me even more now. It looks like the most ridiculous film ever, but it's going to work. All the characters have had hints of their personality shown to us in these trailers, and I love that. Margot Robbie looks like she was born to play this role, from the look, to the comedy, to the action, she has nailed everything from what I have seen so far. This was kind of similar to the last one, but I think a little bit better. It is showing us a lot of stuff from the film, but we still have no clue what the actual plot is. Also, we have no idea where The Joker comes into play here. I have to mention the use of music in these Suicide Squad trailers. From Bohemian Rhapsody to You Don't Own Me, every song use is perfect. If I am not mistaken, this should be the final trailer, but if it's not, I don't really care. I am already sold, but more awesome trailers is not a problem.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
Although this trailer was overshadowed a bit by the Suicide Squad trailer, it is still a very solid trailer. It does a very good job of inviting unexpected audiences back to the realm of Harry Potter, that has been so dearly missed these past five years. Eddie Redmayne looks like he was born to be in this world. I could not think of a more perfect casting for our new lead, and I am delighted that it is actually happening. His debut in Les Misérables was mediocre, but his jump to The Theory of Everything, taking him to an Academy Award, was phenomenal. He is an incredible talent, and will be here for years to come. When the theme of Harry Potter started playing in the background, I just got so nostalgic, and exponentially increased my excitement. Despite the title of the film, we have actually yet to see a Fantastic Beast in a trailer. I hope that this film actually has lots of those, and isn't misleading. Overall, this trailer was solid, introducing us to our main character, and not revealing too much of the plot, accompanied by the fabulous music of this world.

Thank you for reading, and farewell!
