Why I Like Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith

Hello all!
More Star Wars! It might feel like December 2015 again now, but that's not a problem for me! This is a more of an unpopular opinion that I have, but I'd like to share it. I really like Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith. Like I think it is a solid, entertaining movie, that is a worthy addition to the franchise. Before you hate me, here's why.

So firstly, I want to say that I don't love this movie. I don't think it's a masterpiece in any way. Episodes 4, 5, 6, and 7 are all far superior to this one. It has glaring flaws, similarly to the other prequels, such has some horrendous dialogue, truly awful acting, pardon Ewan McGregor, and an abundance of CGI. But it has some really good parts too.

A Truly Epic Lightsaber Battle
So this is not my favorite lightsaber battle, but it is a close second. As I explained in my last post, this battle is absolutely heart wrenching. It is the battle between two brothers, where neither of them want to fight each other, but they are forced to. Simultaneously, Yoda and Darth Sidious parallels their duel with their own duel, creating a series of captivating and fast-paced action sequences, even though we know the way it ends. These two fights are very unique because the fight on the hell of Mustafar, Anakin and Obi-Wan, is the only fight we see between two trained Jedis. And the in the other duel, we see the most powerful and master of Jedi, Yoda, take on the embodiment of evil, the Emperor. This fight is probably the most important moment in the history of Star Wars saga. You can tell that when Lucas started making these films, he could not wait to make this scene. This is what he really wanted to make. I believe this whole film was like that actually. He just had to get through two pretty bad films, to make the one he actually wanted.

A Dark Tone
In my opinion, even with The Force Awakens and a whole bunch of new Star Wars stuff, this film has the darkest tone of all. The PG-13 rating really allowed for some stuff we had yet to see in a Star Wars film. Such as in the opening sequence, when Anakin kills General Grievous, it is a pretty violent death. Similarly to the end sequence, when Anakin is having Vader's mask placed on him. If we did not see the scorched body, I feel as if that scene would not be nearly as powerful. Also, Order 66 was a pretty horrific sequence of events that with a PG rating, would not seem nearly was terrifying.

Palpatine Luring Anakin to the Dark Side
This is really a whole sequence of scenes and events, but it reaches it's turning point where Anakin and Palpatine are speaking in some sort of theater. Of all the terribly written scenes throughout the prequels, this is one gem in the pile of dirt. Palpatine tells him of the legend of Darth Plagueis, and all the dialogue is fantastic. It's difficult for me to describe this scene, you just have to watch it. It's a truly marvelous scene. But the build-up to this is also amazing. The psychological games that Palpatine is playing with Anakin, and seeing how it messes with his head, is just really cool. He tells him to ask the council if he can join, and he knew that the council would not let him be Master, and he also knew that that would agitate him greatly. Seeing Anakin slowly morphing into Vader was executed near perfectly, and I wish there was more of great story arcs like this in Episodes 1 and 2.

Sure, this movie is not that good. But if you despise it, I would suggest giving it another try. But hey it's just an opinion. Thank you if you read this pretty short extra post of the day!
