Week 3 : March 25th - April 1st : Kingsman 2! Another LEGO Batman Trailer!
Hello all! Bit of a slow news week this time around, with all the Batman v Superman talk and all, not much is really happening. But nevertheless, here's some of the stuff this week! (Only two things but they're both positive so.. I'm not complaining!)
Kingsman 2
So Kingsman : The Secret Service was a huge surprise of last year, and I ended up really loving it, making it one of my favorite films of last year. The action sequences were fantastic, A few months back, I believe sometime in the latter part of 2015, a franchise was announced, with rumored director Matthew Vaughn, who also made the first film, and X-Men : First Class. A few days ago, the title of the film was announced: Kingsman: The Golden Circle. So as of the moment this title doesn't really make any sense yet, but I'm sure when the film releases, it will. My best guess is that it is a play on James Bond's Goldeneye, because of how much of a satire of the Bond franchise the first one was. Also, some pretty cool concept art. Here's my favorite, and you can probably Google the others.
Another trailer for The LEGO Batman Movie!
I wanted to talk about this for Trailer Talk, because I did enjoy it more than the Alice Through the Looking Glass trailer, but I had already done it the previous week. So this was a pretty big surprise. Last week, the first trailer for the now highly anticipated LEGO Batman Movie came out, and the response is generally very positive. My favorite part of this, similarly to the first trailer, is the fourth wall breaks done by Batman. I just adore how self-aware that these writers are, referring to common Batman clichés. I said this last time too, but I have to emphasize how gorgeous this animation is. In the Wayne Manor, it is on an even more dazzling display. In additon, we got to see Ralph Fiennes, The Dark Lord himself, as Alfred Pennyworth, Batman's butler. The reference to all the other live-action Batman films gave me a good laugh, especially the 60's Batman. Plus, there was a nice little easter egg in the trailer; the rap that Batman was singing is the original Batman theme. In the end, this trailer just looks great, and The LEGO Batman Movie seems to be as good as The LEGO Movie.
