Sunday Review : Daredevil Season 2 : Episodes 4-6

Hello all!
I have been catching up with Daredevil this past week and I am almost finished. After this, I will post my Episodes 7-9 Review, then next week I will post my episodes 10-13 to finish off this season! (Full spoilers ahead) (Also, the reason I did not post a news update for this week because I frankly did not have the time, and there wasn't that much news this week)

Episode 4
As someone who has now seen this whole season, this is my favorite episode of the season, almost my favorite episode of the show. This is the episode where I was 100 percent sold on Jon Bernthal as the Punisher. His monologue in the cemetery towards the end of the episode was heartwrenching and made me almost want to cry. The entire situation of the Punisher's kidnapping and arrest was very well filmed action, that reminds me of John Wick. Also, this season Karen has been made into a much more well developed character and I am happy that the writers did that. And of course, the fabulous Elektra is introduced in this episode. This is an overall flawless episode.

Episode 5
So this episode was mainly done to give the background of Matt and Elektra, and to set the tone for the relationship that blossoms across the course of the season. I really enjoy Elodie Yung as Elektra, and her and Matt's dynamic that happens across the season is quite amusing. I enjoyed the closure on the death of Matt's father, and how it tied in with Elektra felt clean and not an after thought. Also, so Matt and Karen begin their romantic relationship with a date. The scene taking place at an Indian restaurant was very well shot to set the romantic tone, which it did. I was a little bummed that the episode ended before the fight with the Yakuza commenced, but it just gave me something to look forward to for the next episode.

Episode 6
Although I did enjoy Episode 5 quite a bit, I was yearning for some more of Jon Bernthal as the Punisher. The trial of People vs Frank Castle, with Nelson and Murdock representing his defense was a fantastic way to pull Frank back into the loop. The whole Elektra stuff was still cool, but it felt kind of like a side-quest. I do enjoy it, and as I was just watching this, I just knew that Foggy was going to lose his s*** when he finds out why Matt has been ditching him. The real highlight of this episode was Karen. Her scene in the hospital talking to Frank was wonderfully scripted and acted. This episode made an effort to humanize Frank and make him seem less like a phantom who appears, kills everything, then vanishes. It succeeds. This was probably the least action heavy episode so far, but it still had some good stuff.

Overall, the story really is picking up around this time, and you get a clear direction on where the plot is heading towards, while still having a sense of mystery.
