THE GOOD

Captain America: Civil War : Trailer Talk

I am going to start with my personal favorite and the biggest story of the week is the next trailer for Captain America: Civil War. Growing up, I loved superheroes so much, and I still do very much. However, I never truly read comic books often. I mostly learned all the history through cartoons and video games. The first comic book I ever actually read is the Civil War story. This trailer, as a whole, was fantastic. The first minute has General Thunderbolt Ross (seen in The Incredible Hulk and played by William Hurt) telling Captain America, Scarlet Witch, Falcon, and Black Widow about the mass destruction that they have caused while fighting it out with villains. I am very glad that Marvel has chosen to address this issue of all the people that likely died in the city wide wars the Avengers have been the cause of. As the scene cuts, it shows Tony Stark telling Steve the same thing, and agreeing with Ross.
This is where the trailer really picks up, about one minute in. The Black Panther suit looks absolutely perfect, and the motorcycle chase between Black Panther and Bucky looks to be a great action setpiece. There were many scenes with Bucky, and I for one, love Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, so this excites me more.
Following are three fast paced scenes that all look very enticing. First is Scarlet Witch disabling Vision's powers. In comics, Vision and Scarlet Witch have a romantic relationship so I am interested to see if they choose to do the same in the film. Next is Hawkeye firing an Ant-Man arrow. This was a teased concept by Marvel, so I was expecting this, but it is still nice to see. Also, side-note, the Ant-Man suit looks much better than the one in Ant-Man. And lastly we have new and improved Crossbones punching Cap straight in the face. Crossbones is said to have a key role, but no hints are given as what it could be.
A small easter egg : Captain America said "I could do this all day" just like how he did at the start of the first Cap movie. This may hint that he is coming full circle in his character development and may meet his end here, like in the comic.
Oh baby, the money shot, and our first look at the new Spider-Man. I for one, am not a fan of this outfit at all. It is classic, and I do like the classic outfit, but all the other suits for the other heroes are modern, realistic, and kind of rugged. This looks so plain.. and boring.. and kind of like CGI! Seriously! It looks animated. (no more CGI suits.. Green Lantern taught us that). The line, "Hey everyone!" is nice, but the suit.. no no.
Overall, this trailer was excellently done, with one flaw in the Spider-Man suit. A suit does not determine the quality of film, as seen in the perfect suit that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 had, yet the movie still was bad.

JK Simmons is Commissioner Gordon : Good Choice?

There is not much to talk about here! DC has just announced that actor JK Simmons is set to play Commissioner Gordon in the upcoming 2018 Justice League movie. This is not only a good choice, it's a fantastic choice. JK Simmons has proved that he is a more than capable actor time and time again, and I believe he will own this role. My personal favorite film of 2014 was Whiplash, and that was largely due to his performance in it. Seriously, if you haven't seen Whiplash, drop everything and go watch it right now. This guy is great, and DC has added another great actor to their growing list.

Daisy Ridley : Tomb Raider : Possible Casting?

People throw around the term "perfect casting" a bit too much. Such as Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker. He was a good choice, not the perfect choice. There aren't many of these, but some include Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, Ryan Renolds as Deadpool, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, and Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow. If this happens, this would be added to that list.
I, along with the rest of the world, fell in love with Daisy Ridley after watching Star Wars : The Force Awakens, my favorite movie of 2015. I am eagerly waiting to see what her next project will be, because with her fame now, she can do anything she wants really. This is a dream casting. I have never played a Tomb Raider game, but I have seen enough and know enough about Lara Croft to vision Ridley acting as her. Ridley has not yet made a statement about this rumor, but if this happens, I will buy my ticket ASAP!

THE BAD

 Venom Movie : WHAT?!

More Spider-Man talk! Kinda.
Ever since I started to learn about Spider-Man, Venom has always been my favorite villain of his. Venom and Spider-Man's symbiotic (pun intended) relationship is very enticing and he is just simply a badass.
You would think that after the whole Spider-Man rights situation that all the Sony spin-offs that were scheduled would be cancelled. Nope. The Venom movie is still happening. This is honestly just plain stupid. I would love love love a Venom movie in the MCU, but Sony says that this is will remain separate from the Tom Holland, previously discussed, Spider-Man. Venom can't exist without Spider-Man. Without him, he is a one dimensional character. This is very similar to The Joker without Batman. As Heath Ledger said, " I don't wanna kill you! I mean what would I do without you!" I can't imagine what direction they can take Venom (not Agent Venom) without Spider-Man

THE INTERESTING...

Ghostbusters : Trailer Talk

This thing has blown up on the web and created an absolute shitstorm over the past week. I honestly didn't know how to feel about this. I mean it doesn't look that good.. The ghost CGI looks nice and the cast is stellar, but the trailer was unfunny and did not bring much. I really hope that this amazing cast is not wasted in a bad film. Not much else to say here.

I hope you guys enjoyed my first post and come back next Friday for another update!
