The Good
Indiana Jones 5
The real story here is not the fact that another Indiana Jones movie is going to happen, it's the fact that Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford are returning for it. Let's be honest, when Disney bought all of LucasFilm, we all figured they were going to make use of more than just Star Wars. Indiana Jones 5 was inevitable, but it's nice to know it is now in production. Indie's fourth adventure was not the best, but I believe that Spielberg is a director who can identify his mistakes, and fix them, so he will not make it happen again.
Let's talk about ol' Harrison. This man is 73 years old. And by the time filming starts, he will be 75, and 76 when the movie releases in 2019! This man may be old, but he has clearly shown in Star Wars : The Force Awakens that he still got it. I am excited for Indie 5, and especially because the dynamic duo of Spielberg and Ford returning for one more adventure (possibly more?)
Now You See Me 2 Trailer
The first Now You See Me was a pretty big surprise. I was not expecting that much from it, but I heard good things so I rented it and it was an entertaining film. This movie kinda got a cult following, and a lot of fans, so a second began production. First, I wanna talk about this movie's cast. It is absolutely loaded and has tons of talent. Jesse Eisenberg, Dave Franco, Woody Harrelson, Morgan Freeman, Mark Ruffalo, and Morgan Freeman all returning from the first film. Two new additions are Daniel Radcliffe and Lizzy Caplan. It is never a bad thing to add talent to a film, and I am excited to see more of Radcliffe not doing Harry Potter things. I am pleased to say that this trailer is quite good.
Interesting to see Morgan Freeman as a villain, which I haven't seen since Along Came a Spider. Although the plot looks very cheesy, similarly to the first one, it looks like a fun time. Daniel Radcliffe's character looks interesting and he seems to be meshing with the cast well. Lizzy Caplan had to fill in for Isla Fisher's role due to her being pregnant, which I have no problem with. (Side Note : Why is this movie not called "Now You Don't"?) I was not expecting much from the first, but I am for this, and I will be there!
The Interesting...
X-Men : Apocalypse Trailer
I love the reboot of the X-Men universe so far. All movies from the X-Men universe after James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender were added in X-Men : First Class have been nothing short of great. I have a fear that this might be the first one
The trailers for this movie have just sucked so far. Apocalypse looks to be a very weak villain with the mindset of almost all big and crazy godlike villains : to destroy the Earth and make a better one. It is just lazy writing at this point. This trailer is not in "The Bad" section because it is a set up from the others. Psylocke and Storm have some cool action shots and Fassbender looks great as always. Apocalypse just looks dumb and I am really hoping that he isn't. I really wish that this is just bad marketing and this movie is still good, because if it's not, this great trilogy will become like the Reimi Spider-Man trilogy!
Han Solo Actor Shortlist
Oh boy. When all the actors who auditioned for Han Solo were revealed, with horrific names like Ansel Elgort, Miles Teller, and Dave Franco (all fine actors, just not for this role!), I was scared. But they narrowed it down to the three sensible ones. Jack Reynor, Taron Egerton, and Alden Ehrenreich. Okay, so, I have not seen Hail! Caesar yet, but I heard good things, and many people say Ehrenreich is good for this, so I have to be neutral. (he certainly does not look the part). But the one who looks the part, is the one I am scared for the most. Jack Reynor. I have only seen this guy in the monstrocity of Transformers : Age of Extinction, and boy, was he bad. But I guess it's not his fault, since everything was bad. My favorite choice here is Taron Egerton. I loved Kingsman, and he was great it in. He is rumored for tons of roles now, from superheroes, to this. I have not seen Eddie the Eagle, but many say his performance is excellent. He looks close enough to the part to play it, and he can play the likable cocky guy, since Eggsy from Kingsman is kind of like that. I put this in interesting because I like one option, am neutral on one, and dislike the other. Honestly, I think this movie will be good in the hands of Chris Miller and Phil Lord no matter who the actor is. Their work on one of favorite films of 2014, The Lego Movie, and the 21 Jump Street franchise is just great, combining action and comedy, like a Han Solo movie should.
Harry Styles in a Chris Nolan Movie
Yeah. You read that right. Harry Styles, everyone's favorite One Direction member, has been cast in Chris Nolan's latest film, Dunkirk, a World War II drama. I am very confused on why a singer is cast in such a film, by Christopher Nolan of all people. This isn't in "The Bad" because in my opinion, Christopher Nolan's worst film (I have seen all of them) is Interstellar. And that movie is still good. He has made nothing short of a good movie, and if such an honored director thinks Styles is the correct choice for this part, I trust his judgement!
That's it for this week, and I apologize again for posting late!!
